- Create and offer a sacred space for daily prayer and praise early in the morning, positively influencing the entire day;
- Develop spiritual community;
- Enlarge the territory of each person on the call through connection with like-minded individuals on the spiritual path.

HI Val,
Happy Wednesday to You!!!
Thank you for sharing the powerful decision that your friend made to choose peace in his moment after missing his flight due to his friends inconsiderate behavior. I can admire him for choosing peace at that moment, but how do you healthily express feelings of stress, disappointment, etc. without suppressing them or having them build up only to erupt at an inappropriate time? i could understand how he chose to be peaceful, but how did he not express feelings of disappointment?
February 11th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
Excellent question, Star.
Choosing peace in stressful situations is not about stuffing genuine feelings. It’s about deepening our spiritual practice to the point where we can learn to diffuse negative emotions without stuffing them.
For instance, when I feel myself getting flared up, I have a series of questions I ask myself: What’s really going on here? Why am I upset about this? What am I feeling in this moment? Where is this feeling coming from? Where do I feel it in my body? When have I felt this before? Simply asking these questions takes me inward for discovery and examination rather than outward.
It’s about examining why we feel the way we feel, with no judgment. It’s about allowing the internal experience of any and all feelings that are present without pinning or projecting them on other people. Most of the time, if we allow ourselves a moment to just be with the feeling, it will quickly pass.
All feelings–including disappointment and anger–are legitimate. We are humans. A healthy human will experience the full range of human feelings. This is natural.
What is not natural is lashing out at other folks when things don’t go our way. It’s really a matter of learning how to manage self. It isn’t always easy, indeed learning to manage self can be a lifetime endeavor.
How do you get to the point where you can choose peace, even when angered or disappointed?
A daily practice of prayer, meditation, reading inspirational literature and practicing deep breathing are my keys. Feel free to use any and all of them at any given time. They work wonders.
Thanx for your insightful question!

Hi Val,
A statement you made on yesterday’s Boost in Your Bathrobe met me at work and stayed with me throughtout the day. You said that we can not minister in an area that we haven’t bled in, and my spirit said amen at the time you spoke. When I arrived at work, I saw a co-worker,whose nephew had been murdered over the weekend. It was confirmation again that some of the things I suffer through in life is not just for my growth, but for the growth of others; I am to learn through the process ad receive from God so that I can help someone else. It was a painfully emotional day for me because of my own recent experience with the loss of my grandneice, but I was able to comfort and support him with some helpful information, a number for crime victims assistance, and a copy of the article I wrote on healing the loss of a loved one, http://hubpages.com/hub/Healing-Grief. Later on that day, God orchestrated another divine appointment with a co-worker in our other building, who had been betrayed and severely hurt emotionally by immediate family members. The prayer call and God’s ever present Spirit helped me prepare for and be used to His glory in spite of and because of my own personal pain experiences. Thank you Val for challenging us and “doing you” in the will of God. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
Abundant blessings,

Valerie Love is such an AWESOME teacher. She shares in love that if you do not go within (as in to meditate) then you Will Go Without. Does it bother you some times when someone tells you what you need to do but not HOW to do it? Well this awesome te…acher shared her knowledge and the wisdom as to how as well. Bliss to Val (-;
Valerie Love’s Tips on How to Meditate – Boost in Your Bathrobe, August 26, 2009
- Prayer is talking to God and meditation is listing to God
- You will find that your thoughts will not give up; you will think of everything
- Mediation brings you up close and present with God to hear the whisper of what God has to say to you
- Sit silent and aloud all the thoughts of self doubt to fade in the background
- Allow yourself to have the no mind experience; picture your thoughts as balloons and watch them come up and float away or see your thoughts as little people running down the street and falling into a gully
- Master managing your mind and you will you managing your life; when we begin thinking that is when we have problems
- The no mind experience will cause you to have fewer problems
- The more you widen the gap of thinking and the no mind experience, the more you increase your joy to your natural state of naturally being; everything or infinite (joyful, peaceful, happy, healthy, prosperous and much more)
- See God is in Love with You:
1. Prepare your environment; comfortable, quiet, make sure you’re the people in your home respect your boundary
2. Prepare your body; comfortable and loose fitting level back straight, foot on the floor or legs crossed if sitting
3. Prepare your mind; set an intention to experience inner silence; breathe

Hi Min. Val!
I would love to put faces to some of the names of the Boost community that I have been privileged to be in relationship with over the past year. What are the chances of having a page where you could upload our pictures so we can see each other? Especially since I have not been able to make the Boost get together bashes YET! (smile) I will be with you all in spirit and prayer next weekend. Let us continue to hold each other UP in the love and light of God.
Continued peace and abundant blessings,

Dear Starlette:
I know this is quite a bit late according to the date of your post, 2/11/09, and I responding on 1/25/10 nearly a year later. However, I just read the post and wanted to offer my perspective.
I am finding in my experience of understanding life is that we have been taught to live moreso from only one culture, one perspective, one interpretation; and when one does not respond in that one conditioned manner, it’s like something is wrong with that person or that person may even be set upon a pedestal of being admirable for an uncommon type of behavior.
It is my belief that once we enter into a new culture/consciousness of living life, all things become new including our way of thinking about things, as well as our way of feeling about things and our way of responding to things. We learn (I learned) to love ourselves in a new way and show love for that person/situation in a new way.
I have learned from experience to be in touch with my feelings, to identify what it is that I am feeling and also going through the series of questions that Valerie proposed above. I have learned to do this because I became aware when I acted out of character in one particular situation that I was allowing that person, that situation to be in control of me, like be in charge of my behavior. I felt like a puppet on a string after my response. I could only look at myself and say, okay, I forgive myself. This is the lesson, to be more in control and exercise my power over my behavior or the way I respond to a situation and not allow that situation to have power over me. Afterall, the situation is in essence a distraction, an echo, temporal, etc. I learned to set boundaries and regroup and create something new.
I shifted into a new consciousness because what I felt coming from me didn’t set well with me. I practice feeling and healing and moving on.
