God is in Love With You by Valerie Love

God's Unconditional Love Heals ALL Hurts

I had a conversation with a sister recently that reminded me of the process of spiritual healing…

First it hurts.

Then it heals.

All wounds and hurts go through the same process.

First it hurts,

then it heals.

When we’re hurt, in pain and suffering, and feeling bad, just then, healing is happening.

When we’re crying, snotting and sniffling, just then, healing is happening.

All we have to do is allow healing to happen, with a solid intention that it will, and it will.

Healing happens.

In the unfolding of your spiritual healing,

first it hurts,

then it heals.

To be free of pain, you have to feel it first, which is why we have challenges in spiritual healing. No one wants to voluntarily feel the pain of being rejected at 5 or feeling unloved at 7 or being teased as a teen. No one wants to voluntarily go back and scoop up all that pain, and sit in it.

For what? Why would I want to do that?

Why not just let all that pain stay there in the past, where it belongs?

Because all that pain and hurt from the past is affecting your life right now, that’s why.

Ignoring, stuffing or stifling your pain and hurt is one approach. But it’s not the best approach, and it’s not the approach God wants for you.

God wants you to heal, to experience spiritual, emotional, mental and physical renewal.

In essence, God wants you to be FREE.

You won’t be FREE until you know what’s holding you back. It’s called AWARENESS. Once you gain AWARENESS, you can get somewhere. You can become more intentional. You can begin to work from within to address the issues that you’ve become aware of.

You can’t heal anything that you’re not even aware of in the first place.

Once you become aware of what happened in the past that precipitated your hurt, and what stories you made up about it, then you’ll see how the stories continue to play out in your life. Pain and hurt from the past cause us to do strange things, most of which are not conducive to being healed and whole.

When you’re aware, you reach a new level in consciousness, you can never again become unaware of what has come into your conscious awareness. Awareness doesn’t work in the reverse. You’re aware permanently. You can’t act like you don’t know when you do.

And the beauty of it is: your awareness will shape a different thought process.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT is next. When we acknowledge the pain and hurt from the past, looking at it with non-judgment and unconditional love, we get to see that it didn’t kill us. And, just as important, we get to see that it didn’t mean what we thought it meant. And, we get to see that the thing itself is not what caused all the pain–it’s the meaning we gave the events and the conclusions we drew from the events about self and others that caused the pain.

That’s where all the pain comes from: mentally ruminating on what happens, and then making up what it means, drawing erroneous conclusions about self and others. As humans, we’re quick to think, This means that, or that means this, or he meant that or she meant this.

No it doesn’t, and no they didn’t.

Things don’t mean anything on their own.

We assign all the meaning to a thing that it has for us, or ever will have.

You are the only one who gets to make up what the things and events in your life mean.

To become aware and to step into acknowledgment requires that you sit with the pain of the past, that you open it up and look at it, that you examine the contents of your own consciousness.

What you find may astound you.

I was flabbergasted when I started to really examine the contents of my consciousness. Then I was appalled, then I got mad, then it made me sad, then I felt hurt, and so on.

After all of that, I felt better.

That’s the spiritual healing process.

First it hurts,

then it heals.

Why does healing have to work this way? I don’t know. I didn’t make up the process. Something greater than me did. I’m here to allow and to go along with the flow of the Infinite Wisdom of Life. So are you.

What I know is this: self-examination, with the heartfelt intention of healing, opens the door for the Holy Spirit to come in and do its magical and often miraculous work. When the surrendered mind is led back home, back to One-ness, Holiness & Wholeness, we begin to see that things aren’t always as they seem.

Forgiveness moves in and sets up residency in your heart.

Compassion takes root in the garden of your consciousness and begins to grow.

Kindness and empathy then extend from the core of yourself to yourself, and to all those nuts in your past whom you had unpleasant encounters with…

you begin to see that you were just another nut along with them, having your nutty experiences together.

It’s all good. We’re all in this thing together, a bunch of mixed nuts having nutty times.

Now, you’re a new kind of nut… a spiritual health nut. And it means that you can laugh at yourself, from a place of wholeness.

When a doctor operates on his patient,

First it hurts,

Then it heals.

When God operates on you,

First it hurts,

Then it heals.

Your job is to ALLOW.

Love you much,

VAL
