I’m totally blissed out today…
Riding in my car, windows down, warm summer breeze brushing my skin, Elton John is crooning from my CD player…I’ve got it cranked up too.
“Daniel is travelling tonight on a plane…”
The sky is pristine and blue. God is making cotton candy again–the fluffy white clouds lace the sky, providing perfect occasional shade from the brilliant August sun.
I ride past cornfields full of tall plants, heavy with pods of golden sweet corn. Yum. I love late summer corn.
“I can see the red tail lights, headed for Spain…” I love Elton John, and I love the way he makes love to his piano.
On the side of the road is Pop-Pops produce and peaches. Peaches, mmmmmm, sweet peaches. Love them too.
Two black and white cows have painted “brake for chikin” on a huge billboard, in a desperate attempt to get me to go to Chik-fil-a. One cow still has the tell-tale paintbrush between his gums. Whatever they’re paying for that ad campaign, it’s worth it.
“Levon wears his war wound like a crown…he calls his child Jesus, cause he likes the name…” Elton is taking me back now… I’ll never forget that concert of his Cyn and I went to, it must have been almost 30 years ago. He actually played the piano behind his back, wearing the biggest freakin eye-glasses in existence. We rocked all night. What a blast.
I smell the breeze. It’s tinged with the smell of the ocean. This is the Eastern shore of Maryland, a peninsula that’s nudged up, ever so slightly, against the Atlantic ocean. Folks are driving eastward, to the water, to Ocean City for the weekend.
What is it about the Ocean’s call? It’s irresistible. She flows toward us, arms outstretched, beckoning, calling. “Come, my children”, she calls. And we come. We can’t resist the ocean. We’re driven there. We’re drawn there. And today, the streams of cars headed toward Ocean City are proof that we answer the Ocean’s call.
“Goodbye Norman Jean, I never knew you at all…” Elton’s ode to Marilyn Monroe hums in the background. She sure was beautiful.
I’m on my way to Panera bread, with my computer, where the food is fresh and fast, and tasty and good for me, and they let me hang around in there with my computer for hours… blogging and e-mailing and Facebooking and such. It’s divine.
“Goodbye Norma Jean from the young man in the 22nd row…” Mmmm, Elton has a way of getting in there, I feel it.
Trees line both sides of Route 50, silent sentinels to the changing seasons and winds, ever present and ever dutiful in their mission to relentlessly reach for the sky, while simultaneously growing deeper roots.
Good practice for my life, I muse silently, reach upward, Val, while ever deepening your roots.
I take another deep breath. Life is very, very, very good. In that moment, I realize the Truth: that all is perfect.
I am totally blissed out–high on life.
What’s your bliss? Post your comment below…
In the meanwhile, I’m back to Elton;
“Your candle burned out long before your legend ever did…”

Inner Peace blisses me out ! When you have those moments where you step off, you simply breathe in life and be empowered. God is always just a breathe away. Everything is lovely when you are at peace. the beauty of the universe, the music thats playing, the people smiles as you pass by and even the person that cut you off because you are in the blissness of peace !
DAILY WORD
I AM EMPOWERED WITH INNER PEACE !
When I wake up to the freshness, the renewal and peace of morning, my spirit soars in harmonious joy lifted in sacred oneness with the universe. I journey to the center and sit in the silence of now, affirming peace and harmony as expression of my day. Engaging consciously in my spiritual labyrinth back to the relative world as we know it, I remain aware of Divine abundance in every good thing demostrating the peace that “I AM”! I am empowered and my day follows.
A heart of peace gives life to the body. Proverb 14:30
