Part 1 of this three-part series covered the first 3 of 11 Ego Tricks to be aware of. (Click here to read Part 1 in the series.)

Here are the next 4 ego tricks:

4. Resistance to what is. The ego resists. It fights. It kicks and screams and rails against reality.

Symptoms: thinking or feeling that this shouldn’t be this way!

Spiritual Solution: Acceptance. Non-resistance. Resolve to have a love affair with the right now moment, regardless of what it looks like. Coming to the peaceful realization that it is what it is.
Affirmation: This too shall pass.

5. That’s good and that’s bad. That’s right and that’s wrong. I’m right and they’re wrong. The ego is full of judgments. It has a need to judge people and situations as good or bad, right or wrong. The ego will always try to convince you that you’re right and then it will try to convince you that you have to convince others that you’re right.

Symptoms: when you hear yourself saying (or thinking) that’s wrong, he’s wrong, she’s wrong, I’m right, this is right, they’re wrong, or any variation, know that you are in ego judgment. Holding onto your position. Wanting to have the last word. Keeping arguments going.

Spiritual Solution: It’s all good because it’s all God. All things work together for our good.

Affirmation: I let go and I let God!

6. I know this already. The ego tries to convince you that you know everything already.

Symptoms: when faced with learning something new, or when you’re in a learning environment, if you hear the little internal voice that says: I already know this, realize that you are in the clutches of your ego.

Spiritual Solution: Humility. Willingness to learn. Heartful listening. Mastery.

Affirmation: I am open to learn and grow!!!

7. Shame and guilt are born of the ego.

Symptoms: Looking back over your shoulder at the mistakes of yesterday and still feeling the pain of them in your solar plexus. Wishing you had done things differently.

Spiritual Solution: Forgiveness. Compassion for self. Self-love. Self-honor. Self-appreciation.

Affirmation: I AM THAT I AM
