If you’ve read Part One in this series, you now know 3 critical mind shifts that are necessary to create High Success. (Click here if you haven’t read it.)
And if you’ve read Part Two, you know how important it is to commit to celebrating the smaller successes along the way to the fulfillment of your big dreams. (Click here to read Part 2.)
In Part 3 we discussed why High Success only comes on the heels of passionately engaging in what you love. (Read Part 3 here.)
Now we’ll explore Setting Your Intention and making sure you have Soul Engagement before you begin.
A Word About Intention
What is intention?
Intention is a statement of what you’re desirous of accomplishing. It’s a statement of the experience you’re going for.
When your intentions are clearly stated, you’re offering a command to the Universe that compels and impels universal forces to work for you to bring about what you desire. Thus, a clear and passionate intention is not just a bunch of words; it becomes an energetic command.
Setting an intention is also a way of focusing your own mind on the creation of the experience you really want. If you had to create an intention before undertaking any new action, you’d have to focus, and ask yourself:
What am I really going for here?
Why am I undertaking this action and what do I hope to get out of it?
For example, let’s say you’re climbing into your car to begin a 3 hour drive to visit family. You want to set an intention for the ride. You could state:
It is my intention to enjoy a calm, peaceful drive to my family’s home in the most direct and efficient manner. I arrive safely and joyfully. Thank you!
Simply stating this intention before beginning your drive sends a powerful message to the universe that you are desirous of experiencing several things:
- You want to enjoy yourself (which means no accidents, unless you enjoy accidents).
- You want to remain peaceful (which eliminates road rage and getting upset, irritated, frustrated at anything on the way).
- You want to get there in the most direct and efficient manner (which eliminates traffic issues).
- You want to arrive safely (which eliminates all unsafe road conditions and hazards).
- You want to be joyful when you arrive (which means you’ll be in a good mood).
- You’re thankful that it all unfolds just as you stated.
This simple, yet clear and direct command to the universe becomes a divine set-up for you to have what you want to experience, rather than being subject to whatever happens.
Intention is one way we become more mindful in the world.
Intentions must be statements that you yourself can accomplish. In other words, don’t try to set an intention to get someone else to do something. It won’t work, because we have absolutely zero control over other people and what they will and won’t do.
Remember, you are the creator of your experience, so create intentions that are self-initiated, self-generated and self-sustained, that don’t require someone else to do something in order for it to be fulfilled.
A cautionary word about Intention–be mindful not to state intentions like:
It is my intention to make a million dollars.
This intention doesn’t state what you want to EXPERIENCE. What is it about making one million dollars that you’d like to experience? What do you think one million dollars will do for you? What are you really going for?
Here’s a clue:
No one is ever really going for money; it just seems that way.
In essence, you’re going for the EXPERIENCE you think the money will bring you, like freedom to travel in the fashion you’d like, freedom to spend more time with people you love, or the ability to give bigger than you’re giving now to the people and organizations you care about.
The reason no one is ever really going for the money is because money is simply a tool, it is not an end. So setting an intention for a specific dollar amount alone, without stating what you desire to experience, is a weak intention that may or may not manifest. Which brings me to Soul Engagement…
A Word About Soul Engagement
You can’t fool your soul. It knows what’s important to fulfilling it’s mission here and it also knows what’s frivolous and ego-driven.
You won’t get Soul Engagement on frivolous intentions.
When your soul isn’t engaged, you don’t have the extra fire power you need to plow through when things get challenging (which they will).
Your soul simply will not provide the fire you need to get one million dollars, because it knows that trying to go for one million dollars just for the heck of it is dumb and vain.
But let’s say you were on a passionate pursuit of one million dollars because that’s the amount you knew it would take to build 100 new Habitat for Humanity homes for the inhabitants of a specific village, and your passion and love for the process is there, and it really, really, really means something to you, and you truly see how you can help others…then you’re likely to have Soul Engagement.
In this case, you could set a clear intention for the million dollars and it will likely manifest. However, pivotal in the intention would be what you desire to experience, in addition to what you’re going for.
The intention could state:
It is my passionate intention to elegantly raise $1,000,000 for 100 Habitat for Humanity homes for the people of Love Village, and to do so with full joy and divine enthusiasm.
And so it is!
This intention packs a punch, because:
- It states that you want to raise the funds elegantly (which means the least amount of effort for the greatest result).
- It states you want to sow into the lives of others (which removes selfish ego considerations).
- It states that you want to experience full joy as you go through the process.
- It states that you’re desirous of experiencing divine enthusiasm (which is a spirit-filled, dynamic way of living).
As you create your intentions for the projects in which you desire to achieve High Success, focus your mind on what you’re really going for, what you’re truly desirous of experiencing. With a clear and passionate command to the universe as your starting point, you begin to bend the elements to your will.
Be very blessed as you create High Success,
Valerie Love
